Prince William and Princess Catherine have only been married a few hours, and I’m already getting tired of the media buzz “Should Pippa have worn white to her sister’s wedding?”

I get that most etiquette experts out there probably think white should be reserved for the bride.  But think about it:  Doesn’t any Maid of Honor traditionally have to wear whatever the bride wants her to?  And haven’t many of us been surprised and awestruck by how Prince William and his bride appear to be making many of their own choices with regard to the wedding?  Then why all the hoopla today over Pippa wearing white?

She wouldn’t wear something her sister hated for her big day!  Pippa looked beautiful, and although I’d love to see that dress reproduced in different colors, the fact that she wore white enabled her to not take the attention off of Catherine, I think!

Come on, people!  For all of the William and Kate fans out there, if you’re as enamored with them as you say you are, rejoice in their wedding day!  In fact, go one better and plan a visit to the United Kingdom, where you can visit all of the places that have been significant in their lives.  London calling!

News and media organizations around the world have been covering today’s royal wedding in London, but I happened to come across this report with very nice montage of wedding highlights by Yahoo and wanted to share it:

A Fairytale Wedding–Moments of Splendor

In this episode of Princess Cruises‘ Grand Princess video diary, a visiting artist shows us the process of restoring paintings onboard ship.

We also get a look at the work going on in the theatre.  If this backstage look at the show production area interests you, tours of the stage, prop, and dressing rooms backstage are conducted on some sailings.  We took part in this tour on our Princess cruise to Alaska, and it was lots of fun.

Prince William and Catherine Middleton

I must admit I was up shortly before 1:00 a.m. my time today, armed with a pillow and blanket on my couch, to watch the Royal Wedding!

Check out the Official Royal Wedding Website for more updates.

Here are two of my favorite videos so far:

The Balcony Appearance & Fly-Over

Leaving Buckingham Palace in the Aston-Martin

Talk about being modern royals!  The media has been commenting how bold Prince William and Princess Catherine were in making this move, as there is not a very noticeable security presence.   I think it was a great way to celebrate in their own special way.  Carpe Diem!

As an aside, I love Pippa Middleton’s bridesmaid dress!  I can’t wait to see who will roll out the first knock-offs of it!

Also, I especially like this article I just saw on Yahoo Shine, as it sheds some light on some of the nuances of today’s events:  http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/life/royal-wedding-mysteries-solved-2479360/

  • Comments Off on Grand Princess: An Interview with the Project Manager

The Project Manager in charge of overseeing Princess Cruises’ Grand Princess drydock renovations discusses the current status of the work being done, and he shows us some of the details he’s responsible for on a daily basis.  The insights I’m gaining from this series of video diary are certainly giving me a new perspective in cruising!

In this “run around the ship” update, the Grand Princess’s cruise director gives us a glimpse at the current state of the ship’s drydock renovations in a number of venues, including the Crown Grill, casino, stateroom bathrooms, the salon and barber shop area, and the atrium, soon to be Grand Princess’s new Piazza.

Pay close attention to the quirky conversation in the atrium about the “mustache contest.”  I’ve never heard of a mustache contest aboard a passenger sailing, the again, I suppose there could be one!  🙂

Learn more about life onboard Princess Cruises.  Cruise on!

The Logistics Team coordinates delivery of all supplies and materials for the Grand Princess drydock renovations, as well as the removal of any trash and other discards.  Logistics is a far cry from the luxuries and pleasures we normally associate with cruising, but without its vital help, the great experiences cruisers love would not be possible.
