In this video, Cunard Line invites guests to explore Tallinn in-depth, on an escorted walking tour.
Unlike many other European cities, we know bafflingly little of Tallinn’s early history. In 1154 what is now Tallinn was first marked on a map by an Arab cartographer, however the first reliable account of Tallinn’s history comes from The Chronicle of Latvian Henrik, wherein Henrik describes the landing of the Danish fleet, led by King Valdemar II, in June of 1219. In Istanbul Ignites a Spirit of Adventure, I really like how Captain Kent of Princess Cruises‘ Star Princess relates his desire to be at sea and to travel to pop culture and his family’s history. When he describes finally having the chance to visit Istanbul, the realization of his dream is palpable. I’m happy to know that Captain Kent will have the opportunity to visit Istanbul once again when the Star Princess returns to the Mediterranean this summer!
“A Lesson in Courage and Sacrifice” is a good personal account of a family’s visit to the beaches of Normandy. Not every family vacation has to be theme park- or kid activity-oriented; any destination that is of significance to you can be shared and cherished with your kids as well. And a Princess cruise is the perfect way to go!
As a parent of two myself, I can relate to Omar Siligardi’s desire to help his children understand the connection between what they read and learn about in history books and lessons and the actual destinations. It is so true that when they are able to see and experience first-hand something they’ve learned about, it’s like bringing their lessons to life:
On a slightly different note, I have to say the picture of Omar’s son with the pigeons in San Marcos Square made me smile. We have a picture of my dad doing the same thing in San Marcos Square when I was a teenager!
